Children's Ministry
(2 Tim 3:15-17) And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Mission Statement
The children's ministry of Kansas City Bible Church is committed to assisting parents in having their child come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and equip them to minister the word of God.
Currently, the children's ministry has two different divisions: WOW (first through sixth grades) and TOT (nursery through kindergarten). For a current look at what's happening in the children's ministry, check out our monthly newsletter.

Knowing the Word - 2 Timothy 3:15
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
In 2009 we talked about knowing the Lord. This year we are looking at knowing the word of God. We cannot truly know the Lord without knowing his word. My desire is to have kids that will be like an Eleazar of 2 Samuel 23:9-10 that held on to the sword in the midst of battle so hard that it was said his hand clave to the sword. In other words, his hand was glued to the sword. I want us to be parents and a ministry that gives the sword of the word of God into the hands of our kids, and train them how to use it in the battles of this life. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." As parents we need to not only give our kids a copy of the word of God, we need to train them in how to use it.
The weapon that we give our kids goes beyond this temporal life and will affect them and others for all of eternity. So we are obligated and will be held accountable to show them how to use it properly (2 Ti.2:15). This year, I want to specifically focus on how we as parents can help our children know the word of God better.

TOTS (Toddlers of Truth)
The TOT ministry is to our nursery to kindergarten children, as well as their parents. Our focus in this ministry is twofold. We want, first of all, to have the parents' minds at ease knowing that their children are being safely cared for as they receive the word of God during our services. Each worker in our children's ministry will have had a back ground check done to assure that each child's safety will not be compromised. Also, those involved in the children's ministry have gone through our discipleship ministry and have completed or are currently enrolled in our Doctrinal Truths class.
Remember, our purpose at KCBC is to minister the word of God at every level. This brings us to the second purpose of the TOT ministry. Obviously there are limits to what we can expect a toddler to grasp, but our workers still will have time singing praises and covering a short Bible story with them. Even at this stage we know that a two-year old can start memorizing. Parents of two-year olds have most likely experienced this by hearing them quote their favorite cartoon as they have watched it for the twentieth time! So in the TOT ministry we want to introduce them to their first memory verse, which is Ephesians 6:1: Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. The first thing that we want children to realize from the word of God is that the Lord wants them to be obedient to their parents. We want them to have the sense this is not something that only dad and mom expect from them, but this is what God desires of them. This will also lay a good foundation when the pre-school age children are ready to move up to our WOW ministry, which is our elementary age.
