Pastor's Corner
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Well, it is that time of the year again when we naturally evaluate the past year and look to the new year with excitement and hope. This year in the children’s ministry, we have been focusing on our responsibility as parents to train our children in the word of God. The vision for the year was taken from one of the verses for the vision of the children’s ministry. In 2 Ti.3:15 it says that Timothy from a child knew the Holy Scriptures. Our goal and responsibility is to have our children know the word of God. As parents I am asking you to look back on this year and think about your children. Do they know the word of God better in December of 2010 than in January of 2010? Have you been consistent in teaching them the Bible? As I look back over this past year, I have seen growth in the WOW kids as I have spent time with them on Sunday mornings. It has always been a privilege to teach them and to see what they have learned in the word of God that week. Now as we wind down this year and look to what the Lord has for us and our children in 2011, I want to challenge you to not stop in your efforts to train your children in the word of God. Continue to challenge them in their own Bible reading. Use every opportunity and circumstance of life to show them what God’s word says. That will be a gift that will stay with them through the rest of their lives (Proverbs 22:6).
Finally, I want to thank all of you for your support and assistance in teaching your children in the WOW ministry. In 2011, I will be moving on in starting the young adult ministry, but I will still have a small role in teaching the WOW once a month. Please continue to pray and give Dennis and Becky your full support as they have taken up the reigns of the children’s ministry. They have already done a great job in planning out 2011 and I look forward to seeing what the Lord will do through them. I pray that you all will have a good Christmas and that you will continue to stand fast into the new year.
