Ministries of the Word
Adults
Stewards
In the adult ministry, we are training soldiers for the Lord Jesus Christ (II Timothy 2:1-4). Whether a Christian realizes it or not, we are in a spiritual battle every day of our lives. Whether a Christian accepts it or not, we are soldiers in this spiritual conflict. The only question is: what kind of soldier are we going to be. Our goal is to train our members to be good soldiers, steadfast soldiers, faithful soldiers...in essence, soldiers of truth.
On Sunday mornings we have two services for the adults. The first service is the question-and-answer Bible study at 9:30. This service is called Study of the Word and it allows any member ask any question about the Bible and then the Word of God is used to provide every answer. The second service is Preaching of the Word which begins at 11:00. This service focuses on the expository study of a different book of the Bible every year. However, whichever book is currently being preached, the focus is always to glorify the Lord as we lift up the Word of God as our final authority and depend upon the Holy Spirit to provide us understanding of God’s purpose for the body of Christ in the dispensation of grace and to prepare every member to stand unashamed at the judgment seat of Christ.
On our Wednesday night services at 7:00, we are Training in the Word and keeping each other accountable. We have a variety of different training methods we use for our members. Every Wednesday service is different and people come prepared to participate in any of the following: Stand Fast services (preparing publicly to respond Biblically to questions on different levels of difficulty), Bible roulette (a challenging time and a fun Bible game), Bible testimonies (accountability in the reading the Word), Bible competitions (iron sharpening iron), speed prayer nights (each member exchanges a prayer request prays with every other member), and word studies (prepared from the month before and randomly selected member present their studies). All the training methods are designed to prepare the members to have confidence in communicating the Word of God to other people whenever the Lord provides them with an open door to give truth.
Young Adult
Sentinels
The Sentinel ministry is focused on young adults to be strong soldiers for the Lord.
A sentinel is a soldier that stands watch. They guard against surprise attacks from the enemy. In today's world, young adults are faced with many challenges and pressures that will attack their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his Word. Those challenges usually comes from college and the work place. The young adult is in an important time of transition in their lives. They are going from the teenage years to making decisions on higher education, career and marriage for most. Making Biblical decisions is crucial if the young adult wants to be everything they can be for the Lord. The Sentinel ministry at KCBC is geared to helping young adults to continue to grow in their walk with the Lord and to avoid the dangers of the world that will hinder that walk.
Youth
Soldiers
The Soldiers Ministry is geared to instruct junior high and high school aged youth. Our focus comes from 2Timothy 2:3-4: What it means to be a good soldier for Christ, how to navigate the teenage years biblically and how to focus on the Lord in a self-focused world in order to please the Lord.
Children
Pr 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Mission Statement
The children's ministry of Kansas City Bible Church is committed to assisting parents in having their children come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and equip them to grow in their own personal walk with the Lord.
Each worker in our children's ministry has received training in our discipleship ministry and have been approved by our pastoral team to assure that each child's safety will not be compromised.
Currently, the children's ministry has two different divisions: Scouts (nursery through preschool) and Squires (Grade school).
Scouts
The Scouts ministry is our nursery to preschool age children. We want to have the parents' minds at ease knowing that their children are being safely cared for as they receive the Word of God during our services. The children will be introduced to Bible stories and memory verses.
Squires
The Squires ministry is for our grade school age students. These students will continue to be taught the Word, while also being challenged to memorize scripture and share what they are learning in their personal reading time with the Lord. They will also be challenged to increase in their knowledge and use of the Word of God.
Discipleship
Discipleship Ministry
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (Eph 4:11-14)
The discipleship ministry of the Kansas City Bible Church comes straight from the Word of God. We believe that every member should be grounded in the Word of God so they know how to live for the Lord and be prepared for the judgment seat of Christ. In Eph 4:12 we see that all Christians should be perfected. Being perfect, biblically speaking, is being prepared through the Word for the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Tim 3:16-17).
A local church will only be able to accomplish all that the Lord intends in the community as every member prepares themselves for ministry. It is unfortunate that in local churches today there are members that have no idea what they believe, and they are subject to deception and bad doctrine. At KCBC we have 12 Biblical lessons that will take the believer from salvation to their accountability before the Lord at the Judgment Seat of Christ. If you would like more information on our discipleship ministry, feel free to contact our pastor David Davis.
